Frequently asked Questions…

Q: Who is this class good for?

A: This course was designed with dog enthusiasts in mind. If you’ve heard your dog needs more of a challenge for their mind and body this class is an awesome place to go without getting into sports. If you are looking for a community of dog lovers to hang around and talk about dogs with this class would be great for you. We often see our group class participants practicing with each other and walking together outside of class time.

Q: Who is this class not intended for?

A: We welcome clients with dogs that are reactive. However if you feel your dog is dangerous or you have a very hard time handling your dog, we recommend private sessions for you before a group class avenue. We are happy to schedule an evaluation with you to determine if this class or private lessons would be the best route. Additionally if your dog has never been able to take treats in an outdoor space that would be something you need to work through before attending.

Q: What if I don’t want to use an e collar for training?

A: Everything taught in this course will be done without an e collar and are all very useful skills. You can stop after this course and not carry on to the intro to the e collar course that comes after.

Q: What does my dog need to know before this class?

A: Nothing! A familiarity with the tool you plan to walk them on is helpful.

Q: I don’t think my dog would perform well around other dogs or people, can I still participate?

A: Absolutely! This class is about you learning the skills needed to bring your dog along well at home and then to be able to transfer those skills to our classes. We will make sure your dog has plenty of space if needed.

Q: What methods are you using to teach the dogs?

A: We will be using a combination of motivation based techniques and teaching you how to disagree with your dogs with proper timing and fairness to create an easy to understand conversation for the dogs. We utilize food mostly, though toys can absolutely we used. We have no problem teaching you how to say “No” to your dog so that you can set your dog up for success in a very human oriented world.
